Few homes or businesses are free of termites! Nearly 4 million U.S. homes are infested by termites each year. Termite colonies work 24 hours a day, and unless there are obvious signs of infestations, a termite colony can go undiscovered until serious damage is done. They feed on cellulose-based material that includes wood, books, boxes, furniture and drywall.
There are several types of termites:
Subterranean termites live underground and cause the most overall damage to structures. A single colony can have hundreds of thousands of workers. They have a high humidity requirement and travel in mud tubes formed from saliva, soil, and bits of chewed wood.
Drywood termites are larger than the subterranean termites. They will excavate large pockets in the wood that they attack. They are usually discovered by the piles of fecal pellets they leave behind.
Dampwood termites are the largest of all types of termites. They prefer wood that has been subject to moisture and decay, especially if there is no contact with the ground. They can work their way upward from the ground level, eventually reaching the roof rafters.
American City Pest & Termite will send a state-licensed inspector trained to thoroughly inspect your home or business.
During the inspection your home or business will be examined from top to bottom, including interior, exterior, around windows and plumbing, in the attic, and in the basement or crawl space. If there is evidence of a termite infestation or any other wood destroying organism, the inspector will recommend a customized treatment program designed for your needs.
* A nominal fee is charged for real estate transactions.
Fumigation is an all-encompassing treatment for drywood termites and the best way to ensure that all drywood termites are eradicated from your building. We complete all our fumigations with sulfuryl fluoride, also know as Vikane. Vikane is non-flammable, non-corrosive, and does not cause undesirable odors. It quickly penetrates structural materials, is effective against a variety of structural pests, and dissipates rapidly during aeration.
Spot Treatments, also know as drill and treats, is the simplest and most direct tool used to treat termites. A termiticide is injected into small holes drilled into the termite galleries delivering the treatment material directly to the termite colony. A local treatment may or may not be recommended for your structure depending on the inspection results and determination of the location and extent of the termite infestation.
Our licensed crew is trained and experienced to replace termite-damaged wood.
Protect your most valuable investment with our Annual Control Policy. Our Annual Control Service allows you to extend the length of your guarantee for as long as you choose to continue the service. For a nominal yearly fee you'll receive an annual inspection and treatment for drywood and subterranean termites. Additionally, if you see termites at any time during the year just call us and we'll take care of them at no additional charge.
